On Saturday I finally managed to tick of two things on my bucket list. And I’m still shaking from the second one, but I get to that later on. The weekend was Brighton Comicon and honestly it was an amazing day.

The place, the Hilton hotel. I didn’t even realise how fucking big the place was until we got to the convention area. The entrance fee was just under £10 and it was worth it. We paid also £10 to go to a talk to and I will get to that soon.
There were probably a couple of hundred stalls, each with every geeky and collectable item you could possibly imagine. There were at LEAST 1000 people in there at one time and it was based on two floors. The first floor was all the stalls and photos, the second floor was all the celebrities.

We got to see so many iconic things, from the Delorian from back to the future, to the throne in game of thrones. There was so much to see, it was quite overwhelming. I had to take a few rest stops to catch my breath and cope with everything.
We bought some stuff from a couple of the stalls. I got myself a poker chip from “casino royal” as well as a set of cards from the film, and the eeveelution pin set from Pokémon. I got Kai a couple of Harry Potter pins and a poster of Dumbledoor.
THEN THIS HAPPENED

John Hurt answering MY question
JOHN HURT FUCKING SPOKE TO ME!!!!!!!
OK, this is where my second bucket list item comes in (first being actually going to a comicon). I GOT TO SPEAK TO ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS ALIVE. Kai and I purchased a ticket each to go to John Hurts talk. I would have got an autograph but I couldn’t afford the cost.
So we got to the talk and then they opened up the floor for questions and I just started shaking as they picked me to ask. The fact that he spoke about his struggle with cancer, got me to ask about the film “champions”. The film that I fell in love with his acting with. I think he was taken back a bit, because everyone wanted to talk to him about Alien, and Dr who, and I wanted to know about this film. A film that wasn’t a horror or a sci-fi. A film that meant so much to me, because it was the ultimate underdog story.
He then told me about how hard the role was, in comparison to his own personal battle with cancer. He then said about how he visited the Injured jockeys at functions and how he had so much respect he had for them, considering how so many end up in wheel chairs. I then explained about how my mum is an ex jockey and how she was injured and he told me to send my mum his love.

Honestly I’m still fucking shaking over it. It was overwhelming. It had reminded me of the first time I watched ” Champions ” or “Nineteen eighty four” , all those feelings and emotions flooded me. I was physically shaking for hours. I will never regret having the chance to talk to such a wonderful man, and I am entirely humbled by how he spoke to everyone there.

Later on in the afternoon (after a quick coffee and a pop in to the monthly poly meet up). Kai and I went back in for the talk with Carl Weathers (which was a free, yes free) talk.
I had been debating if I was able to manage it, because I had been battling tiredness all day, but I decided to push forward and go to his talk.
I would like to say thank you, because he is probably one of the funniest people out there. The way he spoke to the crowd, and the MC for the day was just wonderful. He was also so humble to all the people he worked with, and was amazing when little children wanted to speak to him and ask him questions about the Rocky films.

Honestly I loved the day. If I went in costume, or wanted to see more people u would gave totally got the weekend pass.
Well done Brighton for hosting such a wonderful event, and to the celebs and event organisers who took part. You did Brighton proud. Thank you.
