Shortest post I’m probably going to write but I don’t think that it requires a lot of words.
If your feminism doesn’t count trans women, sex workers, people of colour, disabled people and the working class, not only is it not intersectional, it is in fact shit. Feminism is about equality for all, not just those who already have a sense of equality.
This rant isn’t about all feminists. It’s about one type of feminist. TERFS. Or as they are called, trans exclusionary radical feminists.
Firstly, their obsession with trans women’s genitals is beyond a fucking joke. As feminists we do not disrespect women and lower ourselves as to suggest that a womans worth is in her genitals. Get the fuck away from that bullshit mentality. You have been demanding that women are not judged by their worth by their genitals. This doesn’t mean just fucking cis women.. It means all women.
Secondly, which ever one of you cunts that started the whole trans people ALWAYS regret their decision to transition, needs to fucking stop. Do you know the actual statistics of people detransioning. It’s lower than 1%. In fact the most common issues of “regret” have been from trans peeps that have been forced to have unnessisary operations or hormones for them, often pressured by gender clinics. This is based on the assumption that non binary genders do not exist.
Thirdly. TRANS MEN ARE NOT LESBIANS. Not all trans men are attracted to women, as we all know. Sexuality and gender are totally different fucking things. Secondly, trans men fucking exist. They are not “defecting to the other side” or “fighting against feminism” they are just being men.
I would go on and on about individual cases of TERF bullshit, but you can google it really easily and I don’t want to see really triggering stuff for me.
So in conclusion, feminism is for all, not just for the cis
Today, was my first online fight with a TERF (Trans exclusionary radical feminist) today. I suppose that probably means I have officially pissed off every extremist group by my existence.
However usually I can shrug of the negativity that comes with online bullshit, but with this I haven’t been able to this easily.
I suppose its because I’m actually disappointed in the people, and not even mad.
I’m disappointed that a hate group, which in theory they are, uses feminism as a launching pad to spread hate. True feminism is about equality, about safety and most importantly freedom of expression, regardless of gender and find ways to find it, without violence in any form being shown.
I’m disappointed that TERFs are taking something that people are fighting for, and pissing it up the walls.
I’m disappointed that feminism teaches us that everyone should be treated as equal regardless of gender or sexuality, and I have been told today that I’m denying being a lesbian. I’m not even a lesbian, I’m bisexual for starters, but that’s not even the reason to be mad.
Feminism has taught me that body parts are not the be all and end all, and shouldn’t be used to discriminate someone. Something that TERFs are doing all to much.
I suppose my point is this. PLEASE STOP ASSOCIATING HATE SPEECH WITH THE ONE THING WE ARE NOT.
