Queer Crafter

I have mentioned a few times on here, but I actually do some crafty making things on my time away from my blog or volunteering. 

I make handmade cards, I knit, I have a bullet journal that I designed for my blog work and I also enjoy doing those colour in books. Sometimes when I feel up for it, I paint and draw too. 

Now why have I done this post, I hear you ask? Well the thing is, craft work as well as blogging is mainly seen as quite a feminine line of work done. When I started writing and blogging I noticed that a large proportion of the bloggers who I was seeing in groups were cis women mainly doing mummy blogs or craft work. It felt really weird for the first few months trying to get out there because so much of what I was seeing certainly wasn’t me. 

I avoided mentioning that I made things and crafted because I felt that I would be placed with a lot of the women who wrote, and people thinking that men or masculine people couldn’t do this sort of stuff actually depressed me. It felt that it was a reflection on my gender identity and that I couldn’t be really a trans masculine person because I enjoyed doing stuff like that. 

Then I remembered that thinking like that was totally bullshit. Craft work hasn’t ever been gendered and there are probably are a whole heep of men out there who want to do craft stuff but are terrified of what people would think of them. What also cheered me up was seeing an Instagram that was based solely on men who knit. It made me feel so happy seeing tattooed, bearded men sitting with each other knitting, and reminded me that things shouldn’t be quite so taboo. 

Basically, regardless of gender, if you want to knit, or card make or journal, you should do that shit. Be proud of what you can make and do, and show the world that anyone can do anything. Regardless of what society tells you to do. 

Owls, Crows and Furry Things.

Its been a wonderful 2 weeks being at my mums and seeing the family, as well as the wonderful animals we have been blessed with. With this, I have decided to do a post on what’s happened the past two weeks.
I was first introduced to the new edition to the house, Russell. He is a crow and a mouthy little fucker. He’s so adorable though, and is still growing because he’s a baby. We have him because he has a deformed foot and he wouldn’t have survived in the wild, because he struggles to use it sometimes.

I then took the time to finally get round to making greeting cards, which look quite good actually. I think I have frustrated my mum by me taking over her table, and replacing all her stuff with all my crafting materials. If you want to check them out, they are here

It was also my mums birthday during this time, as well as my brothers and so I took my mum to see Legend which was amazing, and ordered a curry, which was so good.
I also spent time relaxing with the family, and they are telling me about how they are trying to set up something utterly wonderful with the owls. You will have to watch this space because its still quite quiet, but “Bobs Buddies” will be an amazing project and I hope that it goes really well. All I know is that when I’m getting back, I’m making lots of badges with Bob on them, and giving them to the family. So watch out for an update.

As well as this, I got my blogging award, won two tickets to Traumfrau for the 30th October (expect a review) and managed to clear a little bit of the shit that was going on in my head.
So yeah, that was my two weeks at Scotland with the family. I hate leaving but I know that it won’t be long till I’m back up again to see them.

Greeting Cards

As promised I am doing a post on the greeting cards that I have made recently.
I have finally got a chance to sit down whilst away to make some things, and here are some of them. I will do another post with the Xmas ones I have done, but for now, I will show you 8 of the generic / lovers ones I have created.

Firstly, I probably have been able to make about 3 each day. They are made of sturdy card and some have quite fancy decoration on them. Some of them are also 3D and some have little shiny stars or hearts on them. All of them however are different, and all of them are made by myself. I was incredibly lucky to have been given a lot of the materials to make them, and I’m actually quite proud of them for a first attempt, before I get really serious of making them. Eventually I would like to be selling them, because I know there is always a huge market out there for hand made cards and I probably will end up pricing them at £2.50 / £3 per card. If I do end up selling them I will probably have a link on the blog to find them easily.

Ten things I’m thankful for 5 – holiday edition

Well its been a pretty eventful week this week, if you have kept up with my posts, but if not have no fear, I will catch you up now with my 10 things I’m thankful for.

1. Blogging awards. Eeeeeep I got one this week and I’m so thankful to the wonderful person who nominated me for it. I really appreciate it.
2. Being with the family. Honestly I have needed the fucking space to sit and chill without massive drama, and I am seriously thankful for that.
3. Craft equipment. I shall post up some of my greetings cards I have made the past couple of weeks. I have found making them quite therapeutic.
4. Scotland. Its actually pretty amazing and there are some fantastic views almost everywhere you go.

5.  My friends. I love them all so much, and they have been amazing to me the past few weeks.
6. Animals. Again, its been wonderful to spend time getting cuddles from the dog, playing with the owls and seeing the horses.
7. The people who have been Sharing, commenting and liking my posts. Thank you for doing that, I appreciate all the support.
8. My beautiful wonderful partners. They are just amazing ❤
9. Having a phone with a camera. I get to take pictures, where ever I am. And I think that's pretty awesome.
