How does it sound with your favourite music?
This is a weird one. Ok, so to start off with, Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold is one of my favourite songs. It actually starts off with a Xylophone introduction, which works amazing with the song. So I’m certainly into them being in songs when needed.
There is also a group of people who did several albums called “Twinkle Twinkle Rock star” that is xylophone versions of rock and pop songs. Which I can tell you sounds amazing and a little bit creepy at the same time. I think they have covered a lot of different bands and songs, so you should check them out if you get a chance.
Personally I think it just depends on the song as to whether it’s needed.
