Once again transgender rights come into question this week, and once again it’s that age old bathroom bullshit that has been the topic of conversation.
Yet again transgender people are getting let down by not only the cishet community but by the LGBT community itself. Ever since same sex marriage was brought in the gay community has forgotten that it’s not just them that have inequalities and are failing primarily trans women.
Yes this bathroom bill affects trans women more than trans men. They don’t actually care about what bathroom we use and the conservative and Republicans tell us this often by saying “we don’t want men in womens bathrooms, scaring little girls”.
Guess what.. We don’t want men in women’s bathrooms either, but we know that trans women and girls, ARE WOMEN! We don’t want to see trans girls being forced to go into boys bathrooms where they are more likely to be attacked, raped or murdered. There has been not a single case EVER reported that a trans woman has attacked another woman in a bathroom. There have been 100s of cases where men have attacked women in bathrooms because those women were forced to go into ones that were unsafe for them.
Yet again cis gays and lesbians are brushing this under the carpet and claiming it as “not an issue for them”. Are we suddenly forgetting that trans women of colour were the people at the forefront of the stonewall riots, and those women are the people who helped bring same sex marriage. Those women died (many in poverty) defending equality for all LGBT people and we are almost failing their memory.
Honestly I’m sick of this selfish attitude that goes on in the community. Trans people (trans women predominantly) need our support more than ever and we can’t let them be abused by the system in America, or anywhere around the world.

got mine and my fiances support. we stand up for the trans community a lot. Many believe since we’re gay and not trans, we’re ok with people talkking badly about trans people, but instead they get the opposite result they thought they were going to get. Keep strong, n fuckkk the haters.

I am reminded of something I saw once pre kiddo. A woman sent her child, male, into the men’s room alone. He comes back out and says the man won’t let him in. The mom sends him back. This time an older man comes out and says, you shouldn’t send your child into the bathroom alone, there are all sorts of predators in there. The mom without missing a beat says, right now? In there? The man hems and haws and then says well no I think I was the only other person in there. The mom says so you’re the predator?
We are so obsessed with danger in the bathroom.

I think the trans community gets a lot of support and also from the LGBT community. In America the Republicans who are now detached from any sense of decency are in charge, they think. These barbarians won’t last.
