Kai and I received free tickets to see the “Rainbow Chorus” so we decided that we were going to go to this performance. I had found out on the Saturday that it wasn’t a concert but a taster session of what they would be playing in the future. Whilst I was disappointed, I remembered that I hadn’t paid for the tickets so it didn’t bother me.
Now this is fucking difficult because I have friends that are in it, as well as people I work with, so I beg you please do not take this personally. I am saying this from a person who cares, and there may be others that will give much more feedback.
I hated it. A huge chunk of it was purely down to an acoustic problem. That church made you guys sound really fucking bad. I know that you guys are really good and have been amazing in over venues, but the acoustics was so bad I had to cover my ears a couple of times. I seriously hope that the concert will not be in that building.
The way it was organised was pretty bad in my opinion. What I thought it would be would be a few songs, break, songs. Instead it was treated as what a practice session would be. I know that a lot of people would have loved that idea, almost the “backstage access” point of view. I just didn’t like that, I supposed I prefer to see the polished performance and not the half way through the practice.
Accessibility wasn’t great, the access to the toilets was locked and there was a nightmare with trying to access one. Again not something that is your fault, just something that didn’t help.
One thing that could have been avoided was “doing the Jewish chair dance above a dead Jesus”. I think that might not have been the wisest of choices, though it did bring entertainment in a sense of religious irony. Another thing that was problematic was that you were pointing out at random people to get up and sing. This is quite an issue for someone who’s autistic because you are pressuring them to engage in social interaction they may struggle with. Its a bit of a no go in spaces that are aiming to be inclusive and I hope that can get resolved at some point.
Honestly guys, if you were not in that building, it would have been so much better in my opinion. You were sadly not done justice and I hope that you have a much better venue in the future.
I’m sorry for the review, but I couldn’t lie about the experience.
TLDR – Rainbow chorus are much better in a venue that isn’t shit.
Ahaa, its fastidious dialogue on the topic of this piece of writing at this
place at this webpage, I have read all that, so now
