Months of Planning, weeks of running round by the wonderful organisers and it all boiled down to one evening. And on Saturday it finally came. Now I’m going to start off by apologising first, I know its taken a while to start writing this, and I am sorry for that. I realise I haven’t blogged in a week and that will be explained in a later post. But right now its about the main event.
I want to say how utterly wonderful it was during the evening. It was filled with 40+ guests at the end of the night. The masks were beautiful and the party guests were just stunning.
I dressed up half green/Goth chic, half sideshow Mel. I honestly have no regrets wearing my outfit, and many people got the Simpsons reference. Its great having green hair sometimes. Though, halfway through the evening I had to take my bone off because it got heavy. Trust me, in this photo I’m pinned in to an inch of my life, and in a lot of pain. But it came out fantastic.
The other organisers were wonderful, and whilst I write this, Triz and Tommy, you were both adorable the whole evening and I need to see more of both of you!!!! The other organisers were also amazing and I thank each and everyone of you for taking part.
The first couple of hours were drinking and mingling. I hope that went well, because I didn’t do much of that. Which honestly I’m really cool with because I enjoy doing greeting and door work. Chris the security for the evening was a total delight and funny as fuck.
The second half was taken over by the MC, Triz and the burlesque performers. Now I’m not posting you photos of that part of the evening. OK you can have one
The performers were honestly magical. They were some of the sweetest people I got to meet (and had a chat with a few in the dressing room). There had been a few issues with some of that part of the evening , mainly with use of binary language (a lot of ladies and gentleman, knowing there were other people who do not identify as that there) and one time Triz called me “she” on stage, (which they got the cane for on stage 😉 ) but when it happened they were apologetic and understood why non gendered language is needed in an LGBTIA / QUEER space. Honestly everyone I had chats with was so supportive and understood the need for more queer poly events.
Side note, have you ever seen a guy set his penis alight… Its bizarre! Nick the Human BBQ, You are a crazy man!!!
After the performances, there was a ball to end the night, and I heard that a lot of people were dancing. I ended up downstairs talking to a lot of people about how they found the evening, to which people were really happy about it, and wanted to know when the next one was. The evening wrapped up at about 2 and we all left happy.
I honestly cannot wait till the next one.
