Brighton, Aberdeen, And The Perils Of The Mega Bus

It feels like forever since I have done to journey to my mums, and I have never been so excited to be sitting on two busses and a journey that totals up to 17 hours, three of which in the capital.

As I left Brighton, it started raining, which pleases me, because mum had been saying that weather in Scotland has been nice. As I left, I had realised that I had forgotten the work I had to do, and I will have to remember from my own mind. That will be a total disaster, earlier I had forgotten my coach tickets and had to run back for them. I only hope I remember what I is that I was meant to be working on. I however managed to finish my post about being bipolar , so that was a win.

As it got darker I was starting to be glad that a coffee shop is my next port if call. My cat had knocked over my energy drink this morning, and I had only had 1/3 of it. I am seriously in need of caffeine.

Finally got coffee, and now in the coffee shop till it closes, which is in about an hour. I then proceed to start blogging. I realise that half the people in here are doing that too. What have I become? I have become some sort of of monster. I’m sitting in a coffee shop , blogging whilst drinking a soya capochino. I have become a teenage hipster.

I proceeded to wait at my platform. It took nearly 20 minuets to work out where I was even going. I arrived at the platform at 10 ish and realised one thing, so many people were angry or drunk. This is my first time travelling with mega bus, and I was shocked that people were like that. Normally I am on national express, and out of all the passengers, normally only one is drunk or aggressive. I contemplated how the journey will end up, whether there would be a rest stop, whether there would be a plug socket to charge my phone. All the usually questions that go through your head, as you are going through a 12 bus journey. As more people got on other busses, the area became quiet, and i could feel myself needing to get on the bus. At 11:15, we are told that the bus is going to be leaving late. And should be leaving at midnight, this frustrates me, because I know if there was going to be a break, it would be cut short to make up for time.

The bus finally arrived and I noticed something. There is far less room then what you would normally have. They have squished in as many seats as they physically could. I mean I know its how they make their money, but the seats are not even that comfortable. The pus side is that there is a plug. The plug has a USB port too which is pretty sweet. The staff seemed pretty friendly, and they kicked off at a guy who was both clearly drunk and tried to jump the queue.
Half an hour into the journey, it begins. The crying baby!!! Its not even crying because its upset, its because it wants attention from its dad/grandad. Headphones in, and the noise cuts through my ears still. I don’t see why people bring small children onto SLEEPER buses. It defies the whole point. There are several other buses that you can get on, without causing issue to other passengers.

We ended up going to a place for the drivers to change 20 mins in and still no driver has turned up. Also I have someone using me as a pillow. He asked me and I obliged . If you end up reading this post, I didn’t mind that you asked, but I didn’t ask for the bruised ribs, as you attempted to mood me into a pillow. Also your girlfriend that was in front of you, did look at you oddly as you were getting comfortable on another mans shoulder.
At 2:12 we finally left the driver pick up point. I have a guess that we may be about 15/20 minuets late into Aberdeen.
There was even more delay issues when we hit Birmingham, but only a couple of minuets. The person who had been using me as a pillow, had started moving more frequently, and digging his whole body into me. As we got to Preston he moved into another seat, and someone else took his place.
Eventually I managed to drift of and awoke in Glasgow. Later than planned.

From then on it was pretty easy sailing. My butt was numb from all that sitting and were to be arriving later than expected. I had spent from London to Aberdeen right next to the toilet, and I probably have many, many bruises.  But I was nearly there. 2 weeks with my family.
